About Us
The Public Art Commission was created in 1980 and consists of 9 members:
- a museum curator
- an architect or landscape architect
- a representative of a local non-profit visual arts corporation/association
- a visual art teacher
- a commercial visual artist or designer
- two established visual artists
- two at-large members
Members must be residents of the City of Omaha. Each appointment is for a term of three years.
The commission makes recommendations on artwork donated/acquired by the City (i.e., artistic merit, value of pieces, and maintenance concerns) and serves as an advisory committee to other City boards in all matters regarding art and aesthetics.
