Holy Family Church was built in 1883 as a combined parish church, school and rectory. It first served Irish immigrants working for the nearby Union Pacific Railroad and later was church and school for a largely Italian community. Holy Family Church is the oldest existing Catholic church building in Omaha and the oldest remaining brick church structure in the city. In terms of style, Holy Family is a Victorian hybrid exhibiting features associated with the 19th century Gothic revival and to a lesser degree the later Romanesque revival. (This building is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places.)
