The purpose of the Building Retrofits project is to increase energy efficiency in municipal facilities, including fire and police stations, libraries, and community centers. The City anticipates the following types of energy retrofits:

• removal and replacement of existing Heating Ventilation, and Cooling (HVAC) equipment and associated control systems; 
• normal maintenance and repair associated with proper thermal sealing of the building envelopes (windows, roof, insulation); 
• installation, replacement, and potential rewiring of energy efficiency lighting; 
• installation of programmable thermostats; 
• installation of room occupancy sensors; and
• replacement of existing windows and replacement with energy efficient windows, etc.

Field work and Industrial Grade Energy Audits were completed by the consultant.  The final contract passed City Council by a 7-0 vote on Tuesday September 20th, 2011.  You may read more at THIS location.  The summary presented to City Council can be found HERE.  The consultant is now in the process of selecting vendors to complete the work.  Energy upgrades are scheduled to begin in March 2012.
