On December 14, 2010, Omaha’s City Council unanimously approved the addition of the Environment Element to the City’s Master Plan. The Environment Element is the result of a two-year public/private effort to engage community stakeholders in a unified vision for Omaha’s sustainable future. The process, called Environment Omaha and led by the City of Omaha and Omaha by Design, involves a series of public meetings and brainstorming sessions to create metric, goals, objectives, and recommended strategies in each of the following five areas:
Together, the work done in these areas will inform the framework that will guide public policy and strategic planning efforts related to sustainability in the City for years to come. For easy access to the topics, goals, and objectives covered in the Environment Element, view the Topics section.
