Under
the guidance of the Mayor and the Tri-County Workforce Investment
Board, Greater Omaha Workforce Development's (GOWD) mission is to:
Establish
and implement programs that will effectively and efficiently prepare
economically disadvantaged youth, adults, and dislocated workers for either entry into
unsubsidized employment or attainment of basic education and
/ or occupational skills leading to employment.
GOWD is one of the partners of
Nebraska Workforce Development. GOWD is the manager for the One - Stop
Comprehensive Career Center located at the historic Blue Lion
Centre at 24th
and Lake Streets. Greater
Omaha Workforce Development is the Workforce Investment Act
Title I program partner.
The philosophy of our One – Stop is to get people to work or
back to work as soon as possible.
We provide services for people who reside in Douglas,
Washington and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska.
