Councilmember Festersen BiographyCouncilmember Festersen is a first-term elected representative of District #1 to the Omaha City Council. Pete and his wife Paige, have two children, Anna and Caroline. Pete was born and raised in Omaha’s City Council District #1 and attended Dundee Elementary School, Lewis and Clark Junior High, and Central High School before graduating from Connecticut College.  Councilmember Festersen returned to Omaha where he earned his Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has since helped shape Omaha’s future in his professional life including roles as Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Mike Fahey, Vice President of Public Policy at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and as Vice President of Public Affairs for Alegent Health, one of Omaha’s largest private employers. He has also served as Chairman of the Planning Board for the City of Omaha for three years and on various community boards such as the Omaha Children’s Museum and the Benson-Ames Alliance. Pete is a Leadership Omaha graduate and has been recognized for his work being named an Outstanding Young Omahan and receiving a 40 Under 40 Business Leader Award from the Midlands Business Journal. Councilmember Festersen and his family attend Dundee Presbyterian Church. He enjoys racing sailboats and playing the drums and percussion in his spare time. He is a former state champion in both soccer and curling. Motto: Fighting crime, holding the line on City spending and creating jobs in our neighborhood business districts.  |
