Thank you for visiting our MLK celebration website.  This year marks the 27^th anniversary of the King Federal Holiday. 

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. devoted his life to advancing racial equality, social justice and opportunity for everyone.  Through his words, example and ultimate sacrifice, he challenged us to all take action in our communities, stand up for injustice and remind us all of our humanity.

“Now is the Time!” is a collection of city-wide events honoring Dr. King’s life’s work of justice through community action.”  He once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.  Whatever effects one directly, affects all indirectly.  Now is the time, it’s our hope that you will be inspired to continue Dr. King’s legacy.  Use your time and talents to make Omaha a better city for all Omahans.
